Love Without Envy!

We claim to love one another, but do we really love one another? If we really love one another, there would be no place for envy or jealousy in our relationships. When others go forward in life, when others achieve and accomplish better things than we do, when God blesses them physically and with talents, what is our reaction?

Do we praise God for His hand upon their lives or does jealousy take a hold of us? Do we thank God for His grace in their lives? Or, are we envious and does jealousy arise in our hearts? Envy is a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or luck.

There is no envy in love. The love of Jesus that fills our hearts, the love which is the fruit of the Spirit, loves others with a pure, humble heart. The Lord alone can place that kind of love which does not become envious or jealous, for He alone loves us just the way we are. Allow Him to fill you with that same love so that you can love others the way He loves you.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1 Corinthians 13:4
